About Me

Australia Zoo, Queensland

Welcome! It’s so good to see you.

My name is Alice, a proud graduate of The University of Queensland with a love for the world of localization. Having my time spent as an interpreter/localizer in Brisbane, Australia, I’ve come to appreciate the value of communication across languages and cultures. Now, as I delve deeper into localization, pursuing a second Master’s degree at Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey, I see numerous potential in the field. It’s not just about words; it’s about understanding the soul of a message and ensuring it resonates with diverse audiences worldwide.

Prior to coming to the United States in 2021, I spent seven years of my life living and working in Brisbane, Australia, where I got my first MA in Chinese Translation and Interpreting at the University of Queensland in 2019. During my time in Australia, I had the honor to interpret for Queensland premiere and Brisbane mayor on multiple occasions, including the Chinese culture festival and Asian Art Fair hosted by the Brisbane Art Museum. At the beginning of the pandemic, I was among the first group of interpreters to attend the Gold Coast Hospital and work alongside the researchers and doctors from WHO, helping patients with symptoms and making sure both doctors and patients are on the same page. As much as I love being an interpreter and exert my linguistic influence to help the society with making positive changes, I feel the urge of developing more in the localization industry, in which I can really do my part on illustrating my culture and let more people benefit from the fruit of localization.

In today’s digital era, technology plays a pivotal role in the field of translation, and I am keenly aware of its significance. That’s why, alongside my academic pursuits, I have been actively acquiring skills in translation technology. One of the key tools I’ve mastered is Trados, a leading computer-assisted translation software. My proficiency in Trados has equipped me with the ability to handle translation projects more efficiently and accurately, ensuring high-quality outcomes.

Thank you for taking the time to learn about me. I am excited about the opportunities that lie ahead and am eager to bring my blend of academic knowledge and technical skills to a professional setting. If you’re interested in discussing potential collaborations or opportunities, please feel free to connect with me.
