Beginning with a Vision: The Proposal
- It all started with an idea: translating technical documents for a non-profit focused on otter awareness. This proposal set the stage for what was to become a deep dive into the complexities of technical translation.
Bringing Words to Life: The Deliverables
- Our deliverables showcased our commitment to precision and cultural relevance. Translating intricate environmental reports, we navigated the challenge of maintaining terminological consistency across documents, a feat made smoother with the help of Trados.
- Deliverables also included all-platform accessible TMs and Term bases.
A Learning Curve: Insights from Trados
- Trados became our guide and teacher. A key takeaway for me was leveraging its translation memory database, a real game-changer in managing large-scale projects and ensuring consistent terminology.

Having fun with Regex: The Next Level of Efficiency
In an assignment I particularly enjoyed, I got to grips with Regular Expressions (Regex) in Trados. I remember using Regex to streamline the translation process, like adjusting date formats uniformly across a document. It felt like solving a complex puzzle with a smart tool.
The Art of Precision: Auto QA in Trados
Delving into Trados’ Auto QA feature was another highlight. I developed a keen eye for detail, using Auto QA to spot and rectify errors. This not only enhanced the quality of my translations but also taught me the importance of thoroughness in this profession.
